Job Responsibilities:

(i) Caregiving Duties 

 

Provide caregiving duties and support to patients, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. 

 

Assist patients in daily activities such as but not limited to: 

 

  • Assist patients with general hygiene and personal care activities e.g. bed and toilet bath, changing of bed linen and patient’s clothing. 
  • Serve, remove and sanitise patient’s bedpans, urinals and wash basins as necessary. 
  • Perform Safe Measurement of Urine (color, volume). 
  • Attend to patient call bells. 
  • Take weight and height of patients upon admission. 
  • Assist patients with activities such as lifting and/or transferring from bed to chair/trolley/commode and vice versa. 
  • Assist to ambulate patients, position and/or turn patients on bed. 
  • Assist patients to put on kimono/gown for physical examination and/or other minor procedures. 
  • Measure patients’ vital signs using monitoring machine. 
  • Perform basic level specimen collections e.g. urine, sputum and stool. 

Assist nurse to attend to nutritional care/needs of patients such as: 

  • Manage diet for patients including ordering and serving of meals. 
  • Assist to feed patients (oral feeding) with basic monitoring of swallowing (before, during and after oral feeding). 
  • Monitor the intake and output of patients. 

 

Perform additional duties as appropriate which include: 

 

  • Assist in transferring of patients to and from ward. 
  • Accompany patients’ relatives to other service units when required. 
  • Deliver flowers/fruit baskets from nurses’ station to patient. 

 

 

(ii) Service Management 

 

  • Engage patients and their family members/visitors to understand their needs and manage their expectations in the area of service delivery 
  • Engage patient, family and visitors in ward orientation and visitor policy by providing relevant information and guidelines. 
  • Engage and interact with patients, family and visitors to understand their needs and manage their expectations in the area of service delivery. 
  • Assist with visitor management in the ward.

 

 

(iii) Operations/Admin Support 

 

  • Overall management of clerical and operational support in a ward and ensuring facilities (Medical, non-medical and IT equipments) are safe and functional. 
  • Ensure all facilities are safe and functional, and report any defects. 
  • Ensure all medical / non-medical / IT equipment are safe and functional, and report any faults. 
  • Perform daily or weekly checks on par levels for common inventory e.g. sterile instruments, equipment and medical supplies. 
  • Perform fire safety checks on a monthly basis. 

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

 

  • Candidate should have at least a Diploma in any discipline with or without working experiences. Additional criteria includes a heart for service and care, good learning attitude and able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. 
  • Able to work any 5 days a week, 3 rotating shifts
  • Able to stand and walk for long hours
